Its nearly 255 years since Telford’s birth, and this documentary celebrates the life and legacy of one of the country’s most brilliant minds.

Thomas Telford was born on 9 August 1757, in Eskdale in the Borders, but his father died three months later leaving the child and his mother in poverty, yet this shepherd’s son would grow up to be one of the most important people of his age, radically changing the face of Britain by creating engineering monuments that have stood the test of time from Shropshire to the Highlands.

This documentary charts his life from his humble beginnings in the Borders to his rapid rise down South and further abroad.
